Smart Bus Rapid Transit – Rio de Janeiro | Smart & Resilient Cities

S&RC Contributor Renato De Castro reports on Smart Bus Rapid Transit – Rio de Janeiro

Rio de Janeiro is ranked as the 5th Latin-American Smart City and it took the first place in the latest national rankings. Public Transportation is a big challenge for any city given the huge investment in expanding subways and rail systems. Because of its cost-benefit, the BRT project was created in Brazil in 1974 and it has already been replicated in 189 cities around the world and serves more than 31 million passengers per day.

Renato de Castro is a member of the advisory board of Smart Cities Asia 2016 and the global advisory board of Leading Cities NGO, as well as an international advisor for The World e-Governments Organization of Cities and Local Governments and the founder of Baumann Consultancy Network for Smart Cities projects and internationalization strategies (where he is a senior consultant and executive board member). De Castro has lectured as an MBA professor for 17 years.
