Comprehensive Waste Management

Eagleridge Innovations is introducing the new MicroPoP technology to significantly improve efficiency and sustainability of sludge management. MicroPoP is ideally suited for sewage treatment and pulp and paper applications. MicroPoP enables elimination of waste activated sludge solids (WAS) either aerobically with full conversion into biogenic carbon dioxide, or anaerobically into biogas, with zero solids residuals. MicroPoP enables producing up to 2X biogas from WAS digestion.In sewage treatment, microbes replicate quickly while cleaning the water by removing nutrients and pollutants, creating large amounts of nutrient rich WAS solids that discharge from secondary clarifiers. Handling and disposal of these WAS solids is difficult and costly. Also, the WAS microbes have tough cell membranes that result in slow and incomplete digestion. MicroPoP solubilizes the WAS solids by breaking the tough cell membranes instantly with upgraded high pressure homogenizer equipment. Together with a recirculation process innovation, this new liquefied bioavailable food allows rapid and complete digestion aerobically or anaerobically. The biogas from anaerobic digestion can be conditioned into RNG (renewable natural gas) for use as vehicle fuel or for injection into natural gas pipelines, or used for CHP (combined heat and power) electricity generation. Nutrients that were inside the WAS microbes are recovered as a chemical fertilizer resource using innovative cost effective add-on technology modules, and to meet effluent discharge permit levels. For pulp and paper, these nutrients are simply reused/recycled in the process, saving nutrient purchase costs. The relatively simple and sustainable MicroPoP technology:· Saves significant operational costs with a typical ROI payback of 6 months to 1 year,· Leaves zero WAS solids residuals, saving dewatering polymer costs and eliminating WAS handling and disposal costs. Only primary sludge is left to manage.· Recovers 100% biogas potential from WAS for RNG or CHP projects, and P and N nutrients as chemical fertilizers. Resource recovery from waste.· Decreases HRT (hydraulic residence time) in anaerobic digesters to 1/3, enabling 3X throughput capacity of the existing system, while deferring expansion costs.· Reduces GHGs, amongst other positives.Eagleridge offers a range of pilot options—from smaller “Skid Mount” demonstrations to full-scale installations, allowing industries to validate MicroPoP at their site.
